One flower in full bloom, and one bud just about to open. Two expressions of life, on a single stem. Each petal is shaped by the "memory of heat" — the natural curves and bends that fire creates, carefully controlled by hand, to give each petal the soft, generous expression of a real Casablanca lily. The stamens and pistils are also entirely made from plastic bottles — formed by melting scraps left over from cutting the petals and bud. Where the stem meets the petals, an ultra-thin cord cut from a plastic bottle is carefully wound and knotted. This winding gives the stem a natural, textured expression — like the joints of a real plant. No glue. No wire. The base is made from offcuts of a picture frame. Scrap meets scrap — a collaboration of two materials. The transparency and white of plastic, shifting quietly in different angles of light.
